US PP exports fall on weakening buying interest, as feedstock prices fall / Increased ex-China cargo could lead to arbitrage in the Caribbean / Notional homopolymer railroad car indication heard at mid-40s cents/lb

On Sept. 4, the spot US polypropylene price in Houston fell by $22 compared to the previous week. The region is still struggling with export markets due to high feedstock prices. In the period between Aug. 29 and Sept. 4, no spot export indications were heard of for homopolymer PP or copolymer grades, as markets were quiet before the US Labor Day Holiday on September 2. Some sources expressed optimism about arbitrage in the Caribbean after the holiday. A US-based trader stated that "Chinese rates are higher for the first two week of September.
