On May 30, despite thin trading, EDC's Asian ethylene-dichloride prices remained stable at $250/mt CIF Far East Asia and $350/mt CIF Southeast Asia. Southeast Asian producer: "The market is quiet and prices are stable or weakening." According to some market sources, the Asian EDC is at its lowest point. They cite the firmer vinyl chloride monomer as well as polyvinylchloride. The cost-based value of chlorine was calculated to be minus $71.17/mt in the week ending May 30. This is the same as the previous week. In the midst of price range discussions, Asian vinyl chloride monomer was priced at $620/mt for FE Asia and $660/mt for SE Asia. Although this hasn't yet translated into price changes, the Asian VCM market is being driven by tight supply due to unplanned outages...
