The European polypropylene industry sentiment has weakened in the past week due to a perceived oversupply and lower feedstock prices. According to market sources, the spot price was expected to drop by Eur30-60/mt due to monomer prices having decreased to Eur30/mt in June. Contracts were also predicted to fall by up to Eur50/mt in line with the similar drop in spot price due to ample supply. Some sources have also indicated a good supply of imported goods. One converter reported that they had bought domestic material for as little as Eur1,100/mt. It was tied to the price index. "When the indicator goes down, I buy at that level."
