ACN prices fall $80/mt following six weeks of stable spot prices / Opposing movement in Asia and Europe

After six weeks of stable spot prices at $1.500/mt, the price of acrylonitrile export dropped by $80/mt during the week ending May 14. ACN spot prices at $1,420/mt, FOB USGC are in line with two 1,000-mt transactions. One source stated that despite the 5% decline, "Demand was OK but steady," and described the market situation as "nothing exciting." The market has indicated that the drop is due to the low prices of propylene, ammonia, and ACN. However, it will take some time for ACN to respond fully to this decrease.
