South Asian PP: Increases due to supply pressure and pickup in demand / Allocation from Middle East Suppliers limited: Source

South Asian polypropylene prices are higher than the previous week, Jan. 29, as multiple turnarounds in India and the Middle East have put pressure on chemical allocations just when the demand for certain downstream goods is increasing. PP raffia/injection grades at $980/mt FRA South Asia, up $15/mt over the previous week. Trading indications ranged from $970 to $990/mt while offers and selling indications ranged between $983 and $1020/mt. A trade source stated that the gap between expectations of sellers and buyers had weighed down on the possibility of a deal. One Middle East seller stated that "all the offers are very limited, partly because of better demand and margins coming from Turkey and North Africa," and added that multiple turnarounds were the main reason for the drop in supply.
