The week ended April 5 saw diverging
perspectives in Asian polypropylene markets. There were slight upticks in South
Asia and Southeast Asia prices, while lower CFR Far East Asia prices had more
success. China-based
market participants were absent April 5, due to the Qing Ming Festival.
However, prices fluctuated only slightly throughout the week. Prices in the Chinese local market were slightly buoyed by
OPEC+ producers' announcement of output cuts of approximately 1.16 million b/d
on April 3. The upward momentum in Chinese
prices quickly slowed down the day following the release of China’s purchasing
managers' index. This was due to the continuing pessimism about the global
