Prices on the Chinese polypropylene markets were stable during the week ending Nov. 20. This was due to a tight spot supply, which was caused by plant maintenance, and a lack of end-market demand. A China-based trader stated that there was no significant pressure on inventories this week. The market is tight and new plant start-ups are being delayed. Market participants, however, were pessimistic about the new capacity that is set to be on stream in the first quarter 2025. As reported, a source from Sinopec said that their 350,000 mt/year PP plant in Tianjin has begun operating.
