Asian PP : Soft demand continues to impact market activity / Supply glut continues driving price pressure in SE Asia / China domestic PP raffia prices rise by Yuan 60/mt in a week

Asian PP markets remained stable or softened in the week ended July 31. Prices in China fluctuated with the domestic futures market, but prices in Southeast Asia were lower due to oversupply and weak demand. China's domestic PP raffia prices ex-works were up Yuan 60/mt for the day, and Yuan 10/mt for the week to Yuan 7,620/mt at the end of July. This was in line with the movement on the futures markets amid unchanged fundamentals on the spot market. According to data obtained from the market, Chinese PP plants are operating at an estimated rate of 75%. CFR China PP raffia/injection PP price was up $5/mt for the day, but stable over the week.
