South Asian PP prices fall amid slowdown in the market / CFR South Asia drops $10/mt / Demand is softening due to the upcoming holidays - Aug 16, 2024

South Asia raffia grade polypropylene was $995/mt August 14, down $10/mt from the previous week amid continued low demand. An Indian PP buyer stated that the demand is slow and there is little activity on the domestic market. Middle East PP producers said that the demand is slow and there are no new offers on the market. They added that "new offerings are expected by the end the month." The market participants attributed the slow demand in part to the ongoing Indian monsoon and upcoming holidays. A PP producer said, "Market is weak and there is limited activity due to upcoming holiday." He added that the demand is expected to increase from September, with the start of India's festive season.
