Asian Propylene prices rise due to stronger Chinese demand / Taiwanese prices remain supported / Southeast Asia prices track the strength of the overall market

The Asian propylene price rose during the week ending Oct. 25. This was due to the optimism generated by a stronger Chinese demand. This overshadowed downward pressure caused by lower upstream prices. Trading activity increased and boosted sentiment after a week of industry conferences in Xiamen. The delayed purchases are the reason for increased trade volume this week. Market fundamentals remain unchanged with squeezed margins downstream. Taiwan's downstream producers are facing a sluggish economy, as the demand for their products has been low, even during September and October, which are traditionally strong months. A buyer stated that a slowdown in downstream demand indicates an impending price drop.
