This week, Asian orthoxylenes are higher at $890/mt CFR China. $885/mt FBO Korea and $905/mt CIF Southeast Asia. Laycans are available for markers from October 24-November 13. A buyer in India said that prices are firming. Buyers cited persistently low demand in downstream markets, but other trading sources attributed the support to upstream markets like crude oil and mixed isomer xylenes. Some market participants expected the supply in Northeast Asia to decrease, but China's Yulong greenfield plant will start orthoxylene in October. A buyer said, "I heard they planned to export." This week, there were no firm offers or bids and no trading was reported due to a lack of activity on the market. China's market was closed during the Golden Week.
