Purified terephthalic acids producers in Asia remain concerned about their margins despite the reduction in paraxylene production rates. This is due to a slowdown in polyester downstream activities. PTA FOB china was $653/mt, up $7/mt from the previous day. The average weekly price was $642.20/mt, up $3.20/mt. According to sources on the market, PX rates are being reduced in certain parts of Asia as margins remain low. This has led to an increase this week in PX and PTA prices.
