The tight supply on the Asian market for low density polyethylene continued to support prices during the week ending June 12. LDPE film grades CFR China and CFR Southeast Asia were both up $30/mt on a week-on-week basis at $1150/mt, while domestic LDPE prices continued to increase. Sources said that the upcoming maintenance work on domestic LDPE plants is expected to further exacerbate an already tight supply and push prices up. The plant was running at full capacity but on June 4, the load was lowered due to a minor problem with the machine. Market sources stated that this contributed to the tight supply in China for the past few days.
