South Asian PP prices fall amid slowdown in the market / CFR South Asia drops $10/mt / Demand is softening due to the upcoming holidays - Aug 20, 2024

South Asia raffia grade polypropylene was $995/mt August 14, down $10/mt from the previous week due to continued low demand. An Indian PP buyer stated that "Demand was too slow, and there is not much happening on the domestic market." Middle East PP producers said that the demand is slow and there are no new offers on the market. They added that "new offerings are expected by the end the month." Market Participants associated the slow-down in demand with the ongoing monsoon, as well as upcoming Indian holidays. A PP producer said that the market is weak and there is little activity due to upcoming holidays. He added that the demand is expected to increase from September, with the start of India's festive season.
