However, market participants were bearish about the new capacity set to come onstream in 2025's first quarter. The market is tight and there is little pressure on inventories this week. Some new plants are also delayed, according to a China-based trader. A weaker Yuan is boosting exports in Southeast Asia by lowering prices, but rising freight costs have reduced China's competitiveness. The Philippines was an exception, where traders reported an increase in inquiries from customers ahead of JG Summit’s planned shutdown at the endof December. A regional producer said that customers are only buying to meet essential needs, and many converters are currently destocking.
