Asian PVC prices rise $5/mt due to yuan appreciation / All eyes on India Antidumping Duty / Chinese market outlook weak - Sep 09, 2024

Sources said that Asian polyvinyl chloride prices were up $5/mt on the week of Sept. 4 due to a stronger yuan versus the dollar and a mostly unchanged market. PVC CFR China at $745/mt, and CFR Southeast Asia at $740/mt were both higher by $5/mt on the week at the Asian closing of Sept. 4. The yuan strengthened as the dollar weakened. Sources said that the dollar-yuan exchange rate fell from 7.13 on average in the week ending Aug. 28 to 7.12 for the week ending Sept. 4. A Chinese buyer stated that the demand for PVC has been rapidly declining, especially this year because of macroeconomics. The Chinese buyer said that after the mid-autumn holiday and the National Day holiday, in October, the prices would no longer be supported....
