The prices for Asian ethylene were stable
during the week ending March 3, despite stronger selling sentiments. This was
largely due to buyers staying on the sidelines and resulting in little trade
activity. The market continued to be plagued by
supply constraints, which supported firm selling sentiment. Japanese
producers continued to receive inquiries from buyers for spot cargoes that
would deliver between the second and third quarters of March and the first part
of April. However, they did not have any availability. As the downstream
markets continue to be weak, buyers remain cautious. A Unv1ese
buyer stated to that if the price of ethylene rises, it will be impossible for
me to keep my business...
