European RPET Market Fundamentals Remain Stable / September demand appears to be weaker than expected / UK pellet demand increases slightly

The European spot market for recycled polyethylene-terephthalate saw little change in the week ending Sept. 4. After the holiday season, the market was slow to recover. This week, market participants noted a generally stable environment despite expectations that September would be a time of increased activity in preparation for 2025's Single-Use Plastics Directive. According to sources, the slow recovery can be attributed by many players who are still away from the market. A trader stated that "demand is sporadic with only a few days' worth of trading followed by silence." Many players are still on holidays, particularly in southern Europe.
