The European polystyrene market remained quiet in the week leading to May 15, with negotiations for the month still in progress. The "polystyrene market was quiet for the past two weeks due to bank holidays, demand is not showing in Europe, customers are hesitating to buy [PS]," a producer said. The producer said customers were waiting for a further drop in prices, leading them to withhold their orders for the month. Producers were heard to be targeting decreases in the range of Eur75-90 for EPS and Eur80-85 for GPPS and HIPS, while the consumers were heard to be asking for a full monomer decrease. "Packaging demand in PS due to legislation [in UK] is low, the market [Europe] is quite," a distributor said, who added they see no supply issues...
