US LLDPE export prices remain stable despite limited activity / Hexene and metallocene appetite talk weak / Hurricane Beryl impacts market sentiment

Prices for spot exports of linear low density polyethylene (butene) rose by $22/mt from the previous day to the week prior on July 3. Market players were waiting for clarity about the weather forecasts and July spot offers. From July 2 to 3, butene rail cars were valued at 43 cents/lb. No new indications for spot exports were heard for the hexene and metallocene grades. Sources said that buyers prefer the cheaper butene to the other two grades. A trader source stated that European buyers are most interested in US metallocene and hexene grades but not willing to buy at the current price. Buying activity from outside the region decreases significantly during summer, and Asian customers do not buy LLDPE grades produced in the US due to a closed arbitrage...
