The US Gulf Coast spot price of methanol
fell 2 cents on June 13, due to a long supply and low demand. On the day, offers fell to
74c/gal and prices dropped to their lowest levels since April 12. No bids or
transactions were reported. A source
stated that the US market is well-supplied and US exports will continue to flow
to Europe. The European market was
sluggish, however, as only one 1,000 mt deal was heard for July. The source stated that "the mood in Europe is not very
optimistic or enthusiastic." The
source stated that the demand for MTBE is slightly better in Europe and the US,
