The week ended April
5 saw strong upstream styrene monomer market strength, which supported
polystyrene price movements. According to a producer from southeast Asia, selling and
buying ideas in China were not very close for high-impact polystyrene. "I heard that the buying idea cost $1,300-1,340/mt.
However, the offer level was $11,330/mt. The
producer stated that the supplier seemed to be firm at the offer levels. It's important to keep at least $1,300/mt cost-wise. Producers have seen their operating costs drop and rubber
costs rise, which has led to higher production costs for HIPS. He added that it
is now more expensive at $300-$350/mt. According
