In the week ending March 19, Asian polypropylene market sentiment was subdued in China. In the rest of Southeast Asia, Vietnam and Indonesia, there was no change in price due to ongoing discussions. However, Indonesia's buying interest has been low because of impending road restrictions for Ramadan. Some converters hold back purchases in anticipation of a gradual decline in crude prices that will lead to lower polymer costs. The market participants reported a tightening of bank lending in Asia. This has resulted in a reduction in purchasing power among converters. Traders that wanted to trade with US said the uncertainty surrounding potential tariffs from the US and any retaliatory actions taken by affected countries had impacted the chemical industry more than the tariffs themselves.
