US Gulf Coast spot methanol fell by 1 cent
on June 2, due to a weaker demand. A German
industry event in Dusseldorf ended on June 2, which slowed down the market. The prices
have remained relatively stable over the past week. However, demand for
materials has decreased and this could lead to further decreases in price. A market
source stated that "everywhere appears to be bearish" at the moment. "Spot
demand in the US has disappeared." The demand
for vinyl acetate and acetic acids monomers downstream has been quiet, but
there could have been some slight improvement in demand in the US for paints,
adhesives, and coatings. MTBE, on the other hand, is still in
