- No bids or trades heard- Market still well supplied

US Gulf Coast spot methanol steady on the
day on May 5 amid a quiet market. No buying interest was seen in the market for
the second consecutive day after 40,000 barrels was heard traded earlier in the
week. However, falling offers on the day demonstrated that material is
available. "The market is still long, there is no shortage of methanol in
the US," a source said. The spot price rose 2 cents on the week to the
highest price since March 29, having fallen to record lows in mid-April. In
China, spot prices fell $9 on the day amid ample supply. Prices in Europe were steady on the day, but rose Eur2 on the week.
