Latin American Benzene Prices Rise on Slight US Market Recovery / Benzene prices up $30 in the last week / USGC has oversupply

After three consecutive weeks of declines, the price of Latin American benzene was $856/mt at FOB Brazil. This is a $30 increase on the previous week. The increase was due to the US Gulf Coast, where prices increased by 9 cents during the week ending on September 20 at 317 cents/gal. FOB USGC. Imports of benzene in August were significant, and the oversupply persisted for the entire month. The market was in contango even though the rebound was slight. On Sept. 20 in Brazil, the real was at Real 5.48/$1, a decrease of 9 cents from the previous weeks.
