- Port inventories lower amid destocking activities- Operating rates will remain stable

Prices on the Asian monoethylene glycol
markets increased May 4 as trade activity in China increased after participants
returned from their long holidays. Port
inventories are lower. According to several sources, destocking could continue
in the future. This would support MEG prices. MEG operating rates in Asia will not be increased soon as
demand remains sluggish. Prices of the key
feedstock, ethylene, fell by $20/mt per day, to $900/mt CFR Northeast Asia.
This was due to a weakening buying interest.
