Asian Polypropylene prices: SE Asia prices increase $5/mt due to surging freight; South Asia remains stable / Prices of domestic PP China are firm / South Asian market activity muted

The issuance of ultralong government bonds in China has boosted the bullish sentiment on the market, which is why domestic polypropylene pricing remains relatively high. China's domestic PP raffia prices ex-works were up Yuan 20, but down Yuan 20, on the week. They stood at Yuan 7,740/mt, on May 29, 2015. CFR China PP raffia prices and injection grade were stable for the day but increased $10/mt over the course of the week to $930/ mt. Trade sources reported that prices remained high due to the surge in ocean freight. According to market sources, exports were affected by the firmer prices of domestic China PP, coupled with higher freight costs.
