polypropylene prices were assessed lower in the week to March 22, as concerns
over the global financial stability impacted trading sentiment. PP Raffia grade
CFR China prices down $20/ mt on the week at $920/mt. In China, limited
improvement was seen in purchasing volumes from a week ago despite weakness in
the futures market, sources said. A drop in local prices of around Yuan
7,550/mt fueled some buying towards the end of last week, eventually pushing
spot prices to parity with the futures values. “Downstream factories were very
motivated to buy as prices bottomed, but this does not mean there will be
long-term recovery,” said a source. China continues...
