Asian polycarbonate: Prices drop as demand weakens / Demand is weak, but improving from the lows of Sep / China plant shutdowns may support prices

Prices on the Asian polycarbonate markets dipped in the week ending Oct. 2, as demand was weak, despite signs of improvement. General purpose PC was stable for the day, but down $10/mt from the previous week to $1750/mt F.R. China. Extrusion-grade plastics were also stable for the day, but down $20/mt from the previous week, at $1,760/mt CFR China, amid limited trading. Market sources report that weaker demand from China has led most Northeast Asian producers in the region to lower their prices, even though demand has slightly improved from last month.
