Asian Polycarbonate: Prices drop as demand remains weak / Lunar New year could bring a minor increase in sales / China's tight supply supports PC prices in the domestic market

As of December 11, Asian polycarbonate prices (PC) fell $20/mt from week to week due to a lackluster buying activity. Based on tradeable indications, the general-purpose grade of PC was stable for the day, but down $20/mt from the previous week, at $1,620/mt, CFR China. Extrusion-grade plastics were also stable, but they fell $20/mt over the course of the week to $1,630/mt, CFR China. This is based on tradeable indications. Sources said that despite a slight increase in purchasing activity in the latter part of the week, prices were still being impacted by a subdued market. A Chinese producer said that sales had improved in the last two days. A regional producer said, "It appears that some customers are stocking up because the Lunar New Year will be here soon."...
