Plant turnovers in Northeast Asia restrict spot availability / Shanghai SECCO keeps No. ACN's No. 1 plant ran at 100% in April

After a week of pause, the Asian acrylonitrile market resumed its upward trend as tight spot availability was attributed to supply factors resulting from plant turnarounds across Northeast Asia. CFR Far East Asia's CFR Far East Asia Marker hit a new 10-month high of $1,295/mt in April 23. This is up $5/mt from the previous week. Last seen at $1,315/mt in June 2023. In the week ending April 23, domestic acrylonitrile was priced at Yuan 10,800/mt, up Yuan 200 to 300/mt from the previous week. This equates to $1,263/mt based on import parity. One hand, the limited supply and shortage in Northeast Asia resulted to stable or higher tradable indicators, with minimal pressure on producers to reduce offers due to healthy inventories.
