Phenol supplies abundant in East China / Acetone demand is sluggish

Prices for Asian phenol continued to fall week-on-week and dropped by $20/mt, falling from $900/mt in CFR China to $1,040/mt in CFR Southeast Asia on October 22. The lower prices were due to a combination of increased supplies from the Middle East, China and also falling benzene costs. The traders reported FOB China phenol prices between $920 and $940/mt. Domestic prices fell to Yuan 7,625/mt or $880/mt based on import parity. The average price of benzene FOB South Korea between Oct. 16-22 dropped by $39.27/mt on a weekly basis to $883.67/mt. On October 22, the benzene mark was assessed at $886.67/mt, FOB Korea.
