The European market for recycled polypropylene remained relatively quiet during the week of August 14, as the seasonal downturn was a major factor. The market was characterized by a consistent weakening in demand, as operations slowed down across the value-chain due to summer holidays for many participants, especially in Southern Europe. This dynamic was further exacerbated by the weak derivative market conditions. The spot price in this sector was stable throughout the week on the DDP-NWE market at EUR 780/mt (for black pellets) and EUR 1,750/mt (for natural pellets). The sector saw limited price pressure despite the weak demand. This was primarily because of the dynamics in virgin polypropylene.
