low demandA major Chinese producer stated that poor
textile demand had a negative impact on polyester sales. However, inventory
levels remained manageable as operating rates were low. The inventory levels are not as bad as they were
last year. "We're worried about the textile trade
taking a long timeto recover due to high feedstock prices", said a Chinese
producer. Feedstock PTA was last assessed at $863/mt CFR China, while MEG

$1,020/mt, reflecting tradable indicators from a trader. FOB Southeast Asia PET remained unchanged
at$1,075/mt reflecting tradable indicators from a trader.
