In the week ended August 14, the Asian polyethylene-terephthalate spot market FOB Northeast Asia showed some stability, while the FOB Southeast Asia saw a downward trend. According to sources, the low buying activity in NE Asia caused offer levels to be lowered. Sources in China said that it seems as if buyers and sellers are at odds. Sellers are unwilling to lower prices while buyers refuse to accept higher bids. Another regional producer, however, expressed a more positive view. He said that the market has improved since last month. The producer stated that sales have increased this month in comparison to last month. However, they remain weak.
