South Asian polyethylene prices dipped in the week ending Dec. 11, following a streak of stability for most grades. From Nov. 6 through Dec. 11, the CFR South Asia mark for HDPE Film & HDPE Blowmolding remained at $970/mt & $960/mt respectively. Market sources claim that the PE demand for the South Asian region has not increased despite the expectation of an increase. The supply of locally produced material at discounted rates and reduced prices continues to put pressure on the price. Inventory levels of HDPE grades are higher than expected due to a lukewarm regional demand. Trade participants also predict a price decline for HDPE grades over the next few days.
