On June 5, the Asian propylene markets
declined as a result of weaker downstream demand and oversupply. The August ICE Brent crude futures contract,
which closed at $77.76/lb in Asia the day before, was up $4.65/b by 0830 GMT. The
increased crude oil prices failed to help the propylene import market, which
was already struggling. The domestic market was still
impacted by bearish sentiment. After taking into consideration
taxes and currency exchange, the price of East China propylene was down Yuan
175, to Yuan 5,825/mt. This comes out at $720/mt CIF China. Shandong
propylene was down Yuan 225/mt at Yuan 5,825/mt and after considering taxes and
