Asian orthoxylene prices fall amid weakening of wider aromatics industry / Pertamina offers up to 5,000 mt FOB Tuban in Oct for loading / Buyers and sellers differ on price indications

Prices of Asian orthoxylenes fell $25/mt in the week ending Sept. 6 as lower tradeable indicators were heard. Brent futures contracts fell by $6.04/b, to $73.11/b on Sept. 6. Upstream mixed xylenes dropped $55.10/mt. The weekly average for the isomer grade FOB Korea marker was $756.80/mt. Paraxylene, a co-product, fell by $54.70/mt. The CFR Taiwan/China mark was $880.40/mt. According to market sources, Indonesian producer Pertamina had offered 5,000 mt OX via a sell bid earlier in the week. The loading was scheduled for October FOB Tuban. The company was unable to agree on a price with the bidders and the tender had to be reopened.
