Asian Paraxylene prices fall as US buying interest wanes / End-users look for cheaper cargoes / Arbitrage in the US mostly closed

Prices for Asian paraxylene fell on July 12 due to signs of increased supplies in Asia, and reduced US interest. Asian Paraxylene is down $1/mt from the previous day to $1,025.67/mt at CFR Taiwan/China on July 12. Traders said that the current PX market struggles to absorb all of the supply coming in. A Singaporean trader said that the only way to increase spot prices is for Chinese end-users to ramp up their buying if prices fall further. The DMOPT (daily Mean of CFR Taiwan Marker) spread between physical and paper has been at a discount for several weeks, which may encourage end-users.
