The Southeast Asian market for low density polyethylene was quiet during the week ending August 14, as buyers continued to resist the high prices. LDPE film remained unchanged at $1,220/mt CFR Southeast Asia for the week ending August 14. A trader in Vietnam said, "Deals are scarce and almost no one is taking anything." Sources say that the supply of LDPE films is tight, but the demand remains slow. This has kept prices steady. This week, bids and offers were around $1.300-1.340/mt, while the offer levels were much lower, at $1.150/mt. Sources expect prices to continue to fall when new offers are released by the end of the current month.
