Asian HDPE trade activity dwindles amid weak downstream demand / Prices stable in China, SE Asia / Few Offers Heard

In the week leading up to September 11, trading activity on the Asian market for high density polyethylene was low due to weak downstream demand. HDPE film grades were stable for the week, at $900/mt FAR East Asia and $950/mt FAR Southeast Asia. Few offers were made in China during the week. The sentiment was still bearish and weighed on buyers' appetite. The trading environment is weak and the market seems to be struggling for a rebound. A Chinese trader said that the macroeconomic outlook was still poor. Sources on the market said that they had not noticed the usual increase in demand during September, ahead of the Chinese Golden Week holiday.
