Asian LDPE prices soften as buyers resist higher offers / Thin Trading in China and SEA / Sources predict that prices will continue to fall in

SEA The Southeast Asian market for low density polyethylene trended down in the week ending August 21 due to continued buyer resistance against high prices. LDPE CFR Southeast Asia is down $35/mt from the previous week to $1,185/mt. The trading activity was low as buyers remained in a waiting-and-see attitude, anticipating further price reductions. Ocean freights are expected to ease, which will push prices down. A trader said, "The market has been quiet this week and there were very few sales." Prices in China remained stable week-on-week amid muted trade for dollar denominated cargoes. LDPE film grade, CFR Northeast Asia, at $1100/mt.
