Asian Propylene prices firm amid increased China discussion / Taiwanese manufacturers cope with inventory pressure / SE Asia producer offers multiple sales tenders

In the week ending December 13, Asian propylene was priced higher. CFR China increased $5/mt from the previous week, to $845/mt. FOB Korea rose $10/mt at $805/mt. This is despite an abundance of spot supplies. The propylene market in China remains stable, with discussions on prices higher than last week. According to sources on the market, however, abundant spot supply has curbed any significant price increases. Market sentiments were affected by the narrow margins of downstream products, coupled with PDH's challenging profitability, said one downstream producer. He expects propylene to continue facing strong headwinds. Lackluster downstream demand in Taiwan continued, leading to a lack of trading activity.
