Asian PTA prices rebound slightly as PET shows improvements / Price drop sparks buying interest / Producers strive to maintain discipline

PTA prices rose marginally during the week ending March 14, as PET demand improved in China. PTA FOB China was $637/mt in March 14, an increase of $8/mt. The average weekly price was down $10/mt on the previous week, at $630.20/mt for the week ending March 14. Sources claim that PTA and PX upstream prices have experienced a quick rebound, after a lackluster week of demand led to lower prices. PX and PTA prices are still firm despite a slight drop in crude oil prices. A trader in China stated, "I think that PX prices dropped significantly before and this increased interest."
