Asian Caprolactam prices fall amid weaker outlook / Expected correction in prices / Buyers are seeking lower prices due to the weakening of benzene

The price of Asian caprolactam fell by $10/mt during the week ending Sept. 26 due to a worsening outlook for demand along the value chain for nylon-6. The FOB Korea mark for benzene fell $9.34/mt in the past week to $930.33/mt. The ammonia CFR Far East Asia mark was last assessed at $450/mt. This is stable for the week. A market participant from Taiwan stated that they expected prices to drop next week. I don't think that a postponed peak season will result in a boost in sales. The usual peak demand season is in September and October, but this year market participants reported a relatively poor performance, despite their previous hopes of a postponed peak season.
