Asian MTBE prices fall as gasoline prices drop / Gasoline blending prospects looking weak / Singapore prefers to import AG cargoes from China

MTBE FOB Singapore Asian was down $5.50/mt from day to day, at $710.50/mt. The MTBE FOB Singapore Factor remained unchanged at 1.108. On Sept. 13, the 92-RON gasoline assessment fell to $75.89/b from $76.49/b. The crack of 92-RON gasoline to Brent crude oil also dropped to $3.4/b from $4.91/b. On Sept. 13, November crude oil futures rose 81 cents/b to $72.49/b. Sources said that, after attending the APPEC Conference in Singapore for a week, it appeared as though the market was downbeat on the prospects of gasoline blending for next year. Although MTBE still wasn't doing too badly, they added, the compression of the gasoline-naphtha margin was not good for gasoline blending.
