Asian Propylene prices mixed amid cautious buyers / SE Asia prices fell due to low trading activity / Japan's average naphtha-fed Steam Cracker Operating Rate was 82.3%

The standoff between producers, end-users and traders continued to affect Asian propylene pricing. Sources said that the Southeast Asia market was still struggling with a low level of trading amid a gap between bid and offer prices as both end-users (producers) and producers were under pressure to increase their production margins. Taiwan's market is focused on the restart of CPC’s RFCC, Dalin. This plant can produce up to 280,000 mt/year. A Taiwanese buyer stated that buyers do not have any urgent needs to replenish their stockpiles and are instead adopting a wait-and see approach. A lack of demand is expected to continue to dampen sentiments in the future. Although the buying appetite in China has improved, buyers prefer to buy domestic cargoes over imported cargoes.
