Asian PET offers lower prices amid low demand / Lower feedstock prices weigh on offers / Polyester plant operating at 93%

Prices in Southeast Asia were modestly higher than in Northeast Asia, but remained stable. The price of Asian PET flake was stable at $795/mt, FOB NEA on Nov. 13. FOB SE Asia PET flake, however, was up $10/mt in the same time period to $875/mt. According to sources on the market, a combination of lower crude oil and feedstock prices upstream combined with a weaker demand has pushed down most Chinese offers for bottlegrade PET products. A producer stated that the winter season is usually a time of low consumption of virgin PET. Monoethylene glycol was down $4/mt on a weekly basis in upstream markets at $542/mt F.R.C.
