Asian PTA hopes for downstream revival/Polyester exports are on the rise/Rising freights lower PTA India prices

Exports of polyester products to Europe have increased, allowing traders in Singapore to reduce their high inventories. The trader stated that "Polyester is doing well and the demand is good." With more polyester production, PTA manufacturers could also seek out more paraxylene which would lead to an increase in upstream price. CFR India prices were $881/mt in June 7. They were stable week on week, but up $7/mt that day. In India, sources attribute the rising PTA price to the widening spread between CFR Chinaand CFR India due to the increase in freights. Prices are expected to increase further, as domestic players will be cutting back on production in June due to maintenance shutdowns.
